I began as an artist many years ago painting with acrylics. I have been working in the digital medium for the last eight years. I live in Yucca Valley and have been exhibiting my images regularly in the Morongo Basin at the 29 Palms Art Gallery, JTAG and Gallery 62 in Joshua Tree. I also have exhibited at the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs, Saguaro Hotel and most recently, I was juried into the 2016 Artists Council show at the Palm Springs Museum of Art
I have always been fascinated with contemporary art, especially Abstract Expressionism, as it developed after WWII. Their images altered our way of seeing. The artists that has had the greatest influence include Lyonel Feininger, Clyfford Still and Ben Nickholson.
My images are realized not with brush and paint on canvas but digitally on a computer, exploring the shapes, shadows and colors of geometric abstraction. My style follows the "Hard Edge" movement of abstraction in the 1960's. It began in California as an alternative to the New York school of Action Painting. My digital images can be printed on archival paper or on framed stretched canvas. Sizes up to 30x40 inches.
Photomontage was first developed by the Dadaists in Berlin during the Ist World War and invented the art of photo manipulation.
